Are you in-network wtih my insurance?

Our therapists* can provide receipts for submission to all insurance plans but are only in-network with, and will handle submissions for, BCBS PPO plans. Insurance companies determine the price for those they insure and it can differ for each person. This means we do not know what a client's out-of-pocket costs will be until we bill. Clients can contact their plan to find out what 90791 and 90837 service codes will cost or if you have a deductible to meet before benefits apply. Many plans still cover a portion of out-of-network claims even if there is an OON deductible. We highly recommend calling your insurance company to learn what your plan covers.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes! You may choose to come in person, meet using our secure telehealth platform, or a hybrid of the two depending on your schedule. We have some clients we've only met online and others who request an online session in a pinch.

How long does the process take?

Everyone is different! For single incident trauma treatment, you may be ready to end treatment after as few as 10 sessions of EMDR. For complex, relational trauma treatment, you may find it beneficial to come weekly or bi-weekly for a few years. It is not our goal to have you in therapy forever though we do recognize having life-long support can often be very helpful for a lot of people. We want you to feel well and have the internal resources to navigate present day challenges without ongoing weekly therapy--this is always our goal even if you choose to engage in a therapeutic relationship long-term.

What's the difference between therapy and nervous systems regulation sessions?

Therapy focuses on healing present day mental health symptoms stemming from unprocessed childhood experiences of overwhelm and/or recent traumas. Therapists help the client explore and heal from past experiences using evidence-based therapeutic interventions including ones that support regulating the nervous system. It is clinical healthcare covered by health insurance plans and is regulated by the state in which the therapist practices.

Nervous System Regulation involves focused attention on the body's sensation and feeling messages often combined with physical movement designed to reduce stress and sensory sensitivity while enhancing social engagement and resilience. It may incorporate yoga-like postures but is less about exercise and more about learning to attune and respond to how your body wants to move in order to heal. Our specialist provides individualized education, guidance and space for you to attune and feel without overwhelm or great discomfort. Learning the art of attuning and responding to your body with compassion and curiosity can help resolve pain, inflammation, tension, anxiety and more. This idea is best expounded on in Dr. Bessel van der Kolk's research and book "The Body Keeps the Score". Our specialist is RYT 500 certified to lead and train others in trauma-informed yoga and is passionate about helping others understand and work with their nervous system through their body.
